Privacy Policy — TalkPia

Introduction

TalkPia (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a private communication app for one-to-one voice calls and text messaging. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use the TalkPia mobile application (“the App”).

By using TalkPia, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

Phone number — Used for account creation and SMS verification via Twilio.

Display name — The name you set for your profile.

Profile photo — Optional, uploaded to AWS S3.

Status message — Optional text shown on your profile.

Collected automatically

Contacts — Read locally on your device to match existing TalkPia users. Contact data is hashed before transmission and is not stored in identifiable form on our servers.

Messages — Stored on our servers for delivery and display, transmitted over encrypted connections.

Call logs — Metadata including call duration, timestamp, and participants. Audio is never recorded or stored.

Device tokens — FCM or APNs tokens stored to deliver push notifications.

Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS. We use phone-number based OTP authentication — no passwords are stored. Profile photos in AWS S3 are access-controlled. We regularly review our security practices.

Data Retention

Messages — Retained until deleted by the user or account deletion is requested.

Call logs — Retained for 90 days, then automatically purged.

Account data — Retained until you request account deletion.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your personal data.

Account deletion is available directly in the app. Open TalkPia, go to the Settings tab, scroll to the Account section, and tap Delete Account. After you confirm, your profile, phone number, messages, call history, and ring preferences are permanently removed and you are signed out.

For data export requests, or if you need help with deletion, contact us at privacy@talkpia.com. We will process your request within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

TalkPia is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
